looking out my dirty window~

Why do you wash your windows? Am I the only one that has to wash off bear slobber??

Look at my glass door!  It's full of bear snot!  And Slim wonders why I'm always locking the door.  I swear... one of these days the little buggers are going to be in the house.

and the squirrels aren't much better at staying away either ~

This black squirrel is huge.  It looks like a cat when it jumps up on the chair to look into the living room window.

......

Well... I suppose I better get going and get some of my gardening done while the weather is cooperating.  I have an asparagus bed planted that hasn't been yielding like I would like it to.  I've neglected it and the weeds are taking over and I need to remedy that.  I'm going to redo the whole bed.  I'm digging out all the asparagus and weeds ... moving the asparagus  to another bed and replacing the existing bed with hollyhocks.  Problem is.... I don't have another place made up yet for the asparagus.

Oh goodness, I bet the bear slime is a gnarly mess after they get done visiting. I don't have to wash off bear snot but I do have to clean off Penny puppy slobbers & bunches of nose prints. Not hardly the same caliber as your bear stuff, but it's smudges my storm door just the same only lower on the glass.

That is a beautiful black squirrel. I've never seen a black squirrel before. It's so cute. Thank you for posting it's picture, it made me smile.

I admire you for having the patience to grow asparagus. I've never tried it because it takes so long for it to be of any size... or that's the way it used to be back in my youth. lol I hadn't checked in on growing it since then. I hope yours yields many yummy batches... I love asparagus...

Wishing you a week of sunshine and smiles!

Our Black squirrel discovered the hanging bird feeder ~ Takes the beauty right out of him! Thank goodness we haven't seen any bear in the yard. That's just too up close and personal when they get on your decks.

Hi Mel, I have found that if you sprinkle your asparagus bed with salt (any kind, sidewalk type, table, canning) this will kill the weeds and not the asparagus. Then you wouldn't have to move the asparagus. We have also found that if you spray weed killer on the asparagus BEFORE it starts to come up, no weeds, doesn't hurt the asparagus.

Re:Cindy~ Salting the asparagus before cooking it... interesting. Seriously, I'll have to check that out. My asparagus bed needed moving anyways. Now I have it in a better place; over in my Mom's garden where we have a 10 foot high fence around it so the deer and bear can't get at it.
